What You’ll Need Before You Start
To follow this guide and successfully get MSG GO running on your Roku, you’ll need just a few things:
- An active subscription with a participating TV provider like Spectrum or Verizon Fios. MSG GO comes included with these TV packages.
- A Roku device hooked up to your TV. Any Roku will work!
- A phone or tablet to use for setup. Both iOS and Android devices are supported.
And that’s it! Pretty simple prerequisites.
Enabling Screen Mirroring on Your Roku
Since there’s no official MSG GO channel in the Roku store, we need to use a handy feature called screen mirroring to get video playing from your phone onto your TV screen.
Here’s how to turn mirroring on:
- From the Roku home screen, go to Settings > System > Screen Mirroring.
- Choose either Prompt or Always Allow to enable mirroring.
Now your Roku is ready to start receiving mirrored video. Easy enough!
Downloading the MSG GO App
With screen mirroring turned on, now we just need to install the MSG GO app on your phone or tablet:
- On an iPhone or iPad:
- Open the App Store and search for “MSG GO”
- Tap Get and then Install
- Log in with your TV provider credentials once the app opens
- On an Android device:
- Open the Play Store and search for “MSG GO”
- Tap Install and let the app download
- Sign in with your pay TV subscription info
After logging in, you should see live TV and video on demand content ready to play!
Connect Devices and Start Streaming
The final step is wirelessly connecting your phone and Roku so video can be mirrored:
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. This is required!
- Open your phone’s Notification Center (swipe down from the top of the screen)
- Tap the Screen Mirroring icon
- Select your Roku device from the list
- Start playing a video in the MSG GO app
- It should now be streaming on your TV!
And that’s all there is to it! With just a few taps you can be watching the Rangers, Knicks, Devils, Islanders, and more on your Roku.
Enjoy streaming tons of live sports and shows with MSG GO! Let me know if you have any other questions.
