We’ve all been there – excited to curl up on the couch and stream the latest episode of our favorite CBS show, only to find the app just won’t cooperate! So frustrating. But don’t worry, friend, we’ll get to the bottom of this together.
I’ve put together this handy troubleshooting guide to help get the CBS app working again if you run into issues on any device – whether you’re streaming from an Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Android phone or tablet, iPhone or iPad.
CBS App Not Working for All Devices – Force Close App to Resolve Streaming Issues
The good ol’ “turn it off and on again” fix is always worth a try first. Force quitting the CBS app often clears up strange errors:
On Apple TV
- Access the home screen, double click the Home button on your Siri remote, and swipe up to force close open apps
- Relaunch the CBS app
On Android TV
- Go to Settings > Apps > Force Stop on the CBS app
- Relaunch the app
On Fire TV
- Go to Settings > Applications > Managed Installed Applications > select CBS app > Force Stop
- Relaunch the app
On Roku Device
- For Roku TVs, go to Settings > System > Power > System Restart
- For Roku players, go to Settings > System > System Restart
- Relaunch CBS app
On Android Phone / Tablet
- Tap the 3 lines “hamburger” menu and select Close All to force quit all apps
- Relaunch the CBS app
On iPhone / iPad
- Swipe up from the bottom to bring up your open apps, locate CBS, swipe up on its preview to force quit
- Relaunch the app
💡 On older iPhones with a Home button:
Double press the Home button to show open apps → Swipe up on the CBS app preview → Relaunch the app from your Home screen.
Other Troubleshooting Tips
Beyond force quitting, here are a few other things to try if the CBS app still misbehaves:
- Check for app updates – An outdated version could be the culprit. Head to your device’s app store to download updates.
- Reinstall the app – If all else fails, uninstall then reinstall a fresh copy of the CBS app from the app store.
- Restart your device – Give your device a fresh start by powering down completely, waiting a minute, then powering back on.
- Check internet connection – Streaming problems often boil down to spotty WiFi. Try moving closer to your router or connect via ethernet cable.
I hope these tips get the CBS app up and running again smoothly! Streaming live sports, news andshows should be relaxing me time – not a tech headache. 😆 Let me know in the comments if you have any other issues accessing the app on your devices.
